At Five in the Afternoon. 2012

6 min. looped digital video with sound

"This video is a long soliloquy exploring the different fears that are attached to a personal narrative of love and a continuous longing for intensity in life. This soliloquy is acted out in three spaces consecutively. The personal space of a relationship is transcended to the public space of performativity and event represented by the personally shot footage of bullfighting which in turn is transcended to become a Mise-en-scène in a film depicting a spectator watching a film. The narrator’s fears of a non-intense life are echoed in the torero’s struggle and brought back to mundanity through the Mise-en-scène." Bassam El Baroni
